Jakab Ilona (7. July 1929 Marosvásárhely – 8. May 1990, Kolozsvár) was one of the most promising painters of Kolozsvár. As the wife of the painter and music teacher, Györkös Mányi Albert, in the last years of her life, she worked in their home, the memorial house of today. After graduating the school of Bordi András, she was discovered as a drawer of the University of Marosvásárhely.This is how she got into the fine arts college of Kolozsvár in 1952.
Her style is astounding, but gives proof of the talent and skills of the artist. The themes, the dominated purple-blue and dark green colors, her psychological portraits and dramatic compositions present the diversity of the oeuvre and the artistic value of it. Besides the works kept at the Memorial House, at this exhibition you may see some creations that are in private ownership.
You may visit the exhibition durin the time of the Hungarian Days of Cluj, between 13:00-17:00.
