LADÁNYBENE 27

Ladánybene 27 is the first well-known band singing reggae in Hungary, as it is also the band to have issued the first album of reggae music in Hungary (1991), the first dub (2002) as well as the first riddim album (2007). The inalienable merit of Ladánybene 27 lies in the dissemination and consolidation of the reggae music in Hungary.

LB27 Reggae Camp, the yearly festival, co- organized with One Drop Promotions label, is the most important local reggae music event. The band was set up in 1985, things getting to turn more and more serious merely in 1988, when the band – consisting of a -gang of boys from the Budapest neighbourhood called Angyalföld – won a national talent contest. Animated by the heat of success, the group got down to business and their song turned into hits in their neighbourhood almost overnight. The next sweeping success came in 1990 when they won the most prestigious national talent show.

Their music has not ceased to be popular for decades now, the good mood and party feeling hitting its maximum at their concerts, the public also being granted the opportunity of guaranteed quality music.
