MONYO PROJEKT

Monyo Project was founded in Odorheiu Secuiesc/Székelyudvarhely in 1999 by Monyo, guitar player and composer. Their first album, the Monyo Freedom was to be issued in the same year. As the first instrumental music album in Transylvania, the music itself, as well as the launching were regarded as eccentric, the event being topped by the appearance on the stage of the special guest star, János Rudolf Tóth, the ex-guitar player of the Hobo Blues Band. The first vocal album of the band, entitled Szlogenek, Szlengek, Vakerok (Slogans, Slangs and Small-talk) came out in 2007, the title-bearing track to be broadcasted by several radio stations from Transylvania and Hungary. At that time the band opened up to various musical genres. However, due to that openness they recorded both, instrumental and vocal tracks styled in jazz, blues and cold rock. The multi-faceted talents of the Monyo Project have been recognized and appreciated throughout the years, with the Communitas Foundation offering them a grant for creation, and the Tuborg Sound selecting the Monyo Project into the top 10 best bands in Romania.
