ÁGI SZALÓKI

Ági Szalóki stepped onto the podium in 1994 for the first time, occasioned by the Ando Drom jubilee show. She regards as her masters some of the performers whom she appreciates and with whom she has already had the opportunity to work together, such as Márta Sebestyén, Béla Szakcsi Lakatos, Klára Bodza, the Kaláka group, Mihály Dresch, from among the Transylvanian and Moldovan artist  mentioning Mari Simon Eke Péterné, Márton Maneszes, Erzsébet Papp, Anna Jánó, Erzsi Lunka. În 2004, Ági Szalóki set up her first band and recorded her first album entitled Téli-nyári laboda (Summer-Winter Orache), thus turning back again towards her public made up of children. At the beginning, there were adaptations after folk songs and/or songs for children, including the sung poetry, as well, later on. Beside Hungarian, she sings in 11 more languages, and she is always ready to embrace new experiences. The artist has held most of her concerts in the United States of America, nevertheless, she has had several appearances at jazz, as well as world music festivals, where she performed in French, Dutch, Spanish, German, English, Irish and Russian. Together with her band, the Besh o drom, Ági Szalóki has been invited to jazz festivals organized in Vancouver and/or Montreal but she has also represented Hungary on different high-profile international events all the way from New York to Jerusalem and Beijing.
